Would you demand free food if your delivery order is late?

Don’t you hate getting your delivery order late?  What do you do when this happens?  Do you pay for the order and give the guy the benefit of the doubt? No tip? or Demand that your order be free? Most major fast food offers a 30 – 40 minutes delivery time guarantee or your food is free.  So it was an interesting night for one Torontonian who order a midnight pizza from Pizza Pizza.

Nadisha Mendes usually orders a pizza from the local Pizza Pizza and would get it in about 20 minutes.  On this night, 40 minutes had passed and the delivery guy finally showed up at the door.  She indicated that the pizza should be free as told to her by the customer service agent.  However upon getting her pizza, it seems the delivery guy was not too happy as he later barraged her with a series of text messages:

I hate to say it but I feel bad anytime I take free food from the delivery guy even if they are late.  I usually wimp out and just take the food.  The reason is because working a delivery job is punishment enough.   The only exception is if the delivery person has a bad attitude then all gloves are off!  In this instance perhaps the delivery guy was overreacting as it is Pizza Pizza’s policy that the order be free.  What would you do?
