Which NBA Rookie will have the best year?

With the NBA 2015/16 season well under way, there have been some notable rookies making a name for themselves this year.
Here is a short list of the top performing rookies so far:

Karl-Anthony Towns – This 6’11 footer 19 year old rookie has teamed up with Andrew Wiggins of the Minnesota Timberwolves and has made an immediate impact.  Averaging 16 points and 10 rebounds, he can easily average a double-double or triple-double most nights.  A rare combination of talent and size, Towns can shoot, drive to the net, and defend like an elite player.  Did we mention he plays center?   The sky’s the limit for this bright young man and it looks like the Timberwolves made a very good choice on draft day.

Kristaps Porzingis – You have to had some sympathy for Porzingis on draft day when he was selected 4th overall by the Knicks.  Fans were booing loudly and predicted the end of the Knicks (unbeknownst to them, the end has already passed for the Knicks)  However Kristaps the 21 year old rookie from Latvia has taken all the negativity and turned it inside out like some kind of galactic black hole and now the “Zinger” is the toast of the town, rivaling superstar Carmelo Anthony’s place on the Knicks.  Porzingis has shaken up the NBA with his thunderous putback dunks, aggressive defence, and excellent read of plays, he is pulling the Knicks out by the bootstraps back to respectability.

Emmanuel Mudiay – This point guard actually played in China for the Guangdong Southern Tigers before he was selected 7th overall by the Denver Nuggets, who lost their main point guard Ty Lawson to the Houston Rockets.  Byron Scott coach of the Lakers controversially stated Mudiay was not a true point guard and that’s why they selected D’Angelo Russell ahead of him.  So when the nuggets showed up in LA, Mudiay had 12 points and 10 assists guiding the Nuggets to a win over the Lakers.  Russell meanwhile gave up a four point play to Mudiay and ended up on the bench in the deciding 4th quarter.

Jahlil Okafor – This just might be the year of the big men as Jahlil is another center making big plays for the Philadelphia 76ers.  Selected 3 overall Okafor is a 6’11 275 lb skilled center who is holding his own on a team full of youngsters, averaging about 20 points and 7 rebounds.  Though they haven’t won a game yet.  Okafor is giving big efforts and makes this a better team than last year.

Justise Winslow – There’s something about this rookie shooting guard that’s getting the Miami Heat fans in a frenzy.  Sporting an unforgettable name, Justise is all hustle and a defensive specialist called upon to guard top players like Demar Derozan, Paul George, James Harden and even the king himself Lebron.  Spoelstra, Miami’s coach is rewarding this rookies with big minutes and its paid off with huge wins.  Though he’s averaging about 7 points a night only, he’s been a huge part of Miami’s success as evidenced by his increased playing time in the crucial 4th quarter.

We love to hear from you and what you think.  Take the poll and add your comments.

  1. It’s a close call between Porzingis and K-Towns, but I reserved the right to change my mind as the season goes by. But right now, Porzingis FTW

  2. What do you say after dunking over top other players? Porzingis!
